Despite his £72 million summer signing and recent excellent form, highlighted by his record-breaking feat of scoring in six consecutive Premier League games, he now faces a setback.

Hojlund’s absence will extend to Manchester United‘s upcoming fixtures against Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, as well as the FA Cup fifth-round clash against Nottingham Forest next Wednesday.

A statement from the club reads:

Rasmus hojlund will miss Manchester United’s Premier League game against Fulham on Saturday due to a muscle injury.

“It is expected to keep him out for two to three weeks.”

Ten Hag added to reporters:

“It’s a small injury, two or three weeks. It’s the risk, playing high intensity.

It’s not a big injury but he has to wait for two or three weeks.”

The 21-year-old will also miss the derby at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City on Sunday, March 3.

The certainty of his availability for the subsequent home games against Everton and Sheffield United before the March international break is also uncertain.

Manchester United currently sits in 6th place with 44 points.

A victory against Fulham would provide them with an advantage, allowing them to apply more pressure on Tottenham Hotspur, who currently holds the 5th position with 47 points.
